I started painting in 2001. After several years of general still life and landscape painting, I sought out a more demanding challenge. I found it in a series of botanical art & illustration classes offered by the Mary L. Harden School of Botanical Illustration. In 2006 I started my first pen and ink class under Ms. Harden’s expert teaching. In 2007 I had my first exhibition at Alcatraz Island as part of my Master of Botanical Art certification. Since then I have been exhibiting and selling my botanical artwork throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Botanical art is more than just documenting the flora around me, it is my way of telling the life story of the plant. I find as much beauty in the spent leaf as in the new bud, and try to convey that beauty to others through my art.
